  • Winter Holidays 2011 & Moving

    • Posted by Shankill 12/21/2011 8:40:03 AM
    • Filed In: Site News

This Sunday is Christmas and Hanukkah started Monday, the 20th, evening.  These are holidays that people travel to spend with family and friends.  As such most places are also closed this coming weekend.  Wowstead's Tech Support will so be following this. Along with the holiday season I am also in the middle of a move pretty much across country.

During the holiday season Friday Dec. 23 - Tuesday Dec. 27th tech support will not be active.  I will try and keep an eye on tickets for high status issues.

Following the holiday season, I will also be in the process of the last of our packing and then traveling across country.  This means I will not have a regular Internet access as well as being on the road.  I will keep both my phone and laptop with me and will try and get some tickets done in the mean time.  I should be settled in the new area around Jan 15th.

There are several resources that you can go to to look for help with your issue: Knowledge Base, Forums, Google.  I will try and check tickets as often as I can and get you guys the assistance as quickly as I can during this period.  We also have a few other tech supports helping pick some of the tickets.  However, response times may be longer than normal.

To all those of you celebrating the holiday, have a safe and happy holiday.  For those of our users who do not, have a fun Feast of Winter Veil.

  • 4.3 Update & Brazillian Realms

The devs are working on this along side their other projects to get this out for you guys as soon as they can.  Been told that the updated for 4.3 should be out before the end of this week (week of Dec 11-17).

4.3 for WowStead has been released.  Some graphics and 2 of the bosses have not.  These will be added the week of Dec 19th.

Update: We've just updated the items, and added the two final encounters missing from last week's import.  Graphics have been uploaded as well.  Just not updated into the skins.

For Premium sites that want something up at this time you can make a custom widget.  Here's a guide you can use.

    For the CRT2

    Quote from Torhal »

When I released the 1.0.2 version of CRT2, the Dragon Soul data wasn't available; it is now, and I'll push an update when I get into the office today.

Looks like the realms have been added to the systems.  Make sure that you add the characters from the new realm to your account as characters do not automatically update  from realm and name changes.  Site Admins, DO NOT remove the old characters until you you have made sure that your guild's site has been properly relocated, and you have full admin permissions on the characters from the new realms.

To relocate your site use this guide: http://wowstead.cursesupport.com/pages/knowledge-base/content-management-system/115-guild-relocation-name-change

To make sure you have your character of the new and old realm set to a custom group prior to the relocation.  Use this guide if you are unsure how to do that: http://wowstead.cursesupport.com/pages/knowledge-base/content-management-system/140-adding-removing-admins

We consider Blizzcon a holiday event since a majority of us are going to be traveling to the event as well as having several Curse Company events going on during this time.  This means that Tech Support and Developers won't be around very much during the week of Blizzcon.

Ticket responses maybe delayed between October 18th to October 26th.  We will try and get responses to tickets, but some issues may not be able to be handled until we return from Blizzcon.

In the mean time a lot of answers can be found on the forums: http://www.wowstead.com/forums look for and FAQs that may be posted.  As well as our Knowledge Base has a lot of answers as well: http://wowstead.cursesupport.com/ .

  • Billing Disabled

    • Filed In: Site News

We have currently disabled the billing feature on WowStead while we work on some features with it.  All guilds with Premium will continue to have Premium for their site.  Those with CurseVoice will still continue to have access to their Vent servers.  The only people this will currently effect are those trying to set up a subscription or buy tokens.

The billing system will remain down for a few hours, however, we are not for certain a hard ETA for when it will be back up.

I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any of you or your guild.

Edit: Billing is currently back up at this time.  Thank you for your patience while we got this done.

    • Premium guild sites have been given a free 30-day extension to their premium subscription or group plan
    • Premium guild sites with CurseVoice included in their subscription plan have received a free 30-day extension to their premium subscription or group plan as well as 30-free days of CurseVoice service

This loyalty reward was applied automatically on 8/24 for Guild Hosting sites, and today (8/25) for Bundled subscriptinos.  We greatly value your guild and hope you will continue to enjoy all the great features Wowstead has to offer.

    New Progression System!

We're proud to introduce our new progression system!  We've decoupled the progression from the Armory and put the control in your hands.  You can now appropriately track 10 and 25 man, as well as Normal vs Heroic mode encounters.

We've added a way to set a date for your kill, and upload images and video links to a virtual trophy case of all your endeavors.

While you'll need to set everything up, you can import your old progression data, which will add 10 and 25 man and both normal and heroic mode versions for all the content previously marked as progressed in the old system.

Make sure you have turned on the permissions to be able to edit this module.  by default it is not checked.   To turn on this permission:
go into the Controla Panel >> User Groups >> Edit Permissions >> ManageProgression

    Updates:

    • We're going to be removing the importer for the old data. The importer will not work at this time.  So if you use it and it's not showing progression you will need to delete all bosses and manually put them in.
    • We're going to add in batch removal start over button for bosses, so you don't have to sit there one-by-one and remove them.
    • We are also looking into adding in the options to display 10/25 only and/or heroic/normal only.  This however, won't be added in right away.

    Other Patch Notes

    Translation

    • Added in support for translating phrases which previously had no translation.  As a result, translators should expect to see the percentage complete drop across the board, as there are effectively more new phrases.
    • Added in support for adding new languages.  We expect to add some more popular language options soon

    Raid Tracker

    • Fixed some bad logic in showing loot statistics
    • Fixed the display of character names for characters with special characters in the name of their.... character

  • Group plan overhaul

    Group plan overhaul

We've made a rather extensive change to the way signing up for group plans work.  Before, when you'd sign up for a group plan, we'd create an actual subscription for your site, which would then expire a few days later if no tokens were contributed.  In the new system, we save your preference for a group plan, and delay starting the subscription until tokens are actually contributed.  This will cause some small display changes in the subscription control panel, and the contribution widget, most notably the omission of token balances and dates on the widget.
Why did we do this?  In addition to creating clutter in the accounting system, the necessity of checking token balances on the front page of every guild site was causing extraneous calls into our billing system that could slow down the first load of a guild's home page by as much as a few seconds.  We hope the site will load consistently quick even if it has not been accessed in some time.
  • Roster Syncing Issue

    • Posted by Shankill 7/11/2011 8:31:04 PM
    • Filed In: Site News

    UPDATE:

The developers have fixed the issue just a few minutes ago and it appears that there was some changed markup around the pagation.  It will take some time for rosters to queue and be updated, but past experience it usually clears within a day or two.

Some good news is is that the API is released.  The developers are aware of this and working on a reimplementation.  Bad news is that it's going to take some time to replace the current system in place and no current ETA... or as Blizzard says "Soon (TM)".

We are aware of some rosters having large amounts of members being removed from their roster while the members are still active in the guild.  We are currently looking into the cause of this.

    This may cause:

    1. Members to be unable to view restricted areas their rank has access to.
    2. Admins to loose admin permissions if they were guild verified.
    3. Loss of Guild Verification (suggest verifying your character instead).

Until the rosters are corrected you can use custom groups to allow your members access to the forums, calendar, etc.:
    http://wowstead.cursesupport.com/pages/knowledge-base/content-management-system/65-setting-up-custom-groups

Would suggest making a public forum thread on your site where members who have been removed can post to let you know they are active.  This way you will only need to add active members to the Custom group instead of 100s of inactive toons.

Please do not request your roster being updated because at this time it will not correct the issue and could make it worse.

Some individuals can force their character information to updated and get back on the roster and back to accessing forums and stuff:
    1. Search for your character: http://www.wowstead.com/search?search=
    2. Click "Sync now"
    3. Wait for your character to update.
    4. Wait for the roster to re-cache.
    5. Verify your character if you were Guild Verified.
